When I joined, Populi was a start-up based in Rome, Italy. It comprised of a small team and was funded by its umbrella company - The Vox Group. I joined as a product and digital designer, working with app design, web design, logo design as well as taking on some small front-end development tasks.

Context
Context
The POP Guide was the first App released by Populi, with the idea of using the concept as blueprint for other companies to buy. POP Guide is a pocked sized guide with lots of tours across Europe. It provides guided sight-seeing tours with daily schedule, as well as self-guided museum tours with audio in multiple languages.

Designing a product from 0-1
Designing a product from 0-1
I lead the research, wireframing and high fidelity design process for this product, while closely working with the co-founders and the development team. The Vox Group already had an array of guided tours, and this app was the first digital product to house it all, as well as offerring new features such as pre-recorded audio guides where tourists can do sight-seeing at their own pace.

Features
Features
Tourists can explore and book the attractions in the city they are in, and choose their preferred language. They can add experiences and tours to their favourites and purchase when the time is right. For all the purchased tours, they can see a clear schedule and they can preview upcoming tours on other days too.
Users can also access self guided tours, mainly in museums and galleries, where they can navigate through the map and listen to the recordings of exhibits at their own pace.

The biggest challenge
The biggest challenge
Interactive maps were the biggest challenge. This required communication and collaboration with the developers in order to understand how this could work and be translated, as well as how it can be scalable. These are svg maps in a simplified form, which were easy to create and easy to implement into the app. Users can zoom in and move across the map and access all the rooms via pins for audio recordings.

Learnings
Learnings
I learned such a huge amount on this project! I worked together with the team to build an app from 0-1, which was one of the biggest challenges I had undertaken to date. I learned a lot about information architecture, app structure and navigation.
